 Junior School Community Service

At Hollotoli School, it is not just about studying and gathering knowledge from textbooks, the young learners also have their go at several co-curricular activities. As an initiative to inculcate moral values and instill compassion and humanity, a visit to an orphanage and an old-age home was organized for the students of the Junior Wing. It resulted in a charitable act of donating their old toys, books, stationeries etc. which they did with a kind and considerate heart. These visits made the children realize how people struggle for their basic necessities and how blessed they are to have things that they usually take for granted. The students also presented a few songs and played with the children. They brought upon countless smiles on the faces of the people they visited through their act of kindness. It was such a pleasant manifestation of compassion which has brought about a difference in the lives of the students as well as the people they visited.

The students paid a visit to the following Orphanage/Old age homes:

Nursery and Preparatory – On the 2nd Feb 2018, students of Nursery and Preparatory visited the Ebenezer Orphanage Home situated at Half Nagarjan, Dimapur. The children had a good experience and each class presented a song for them. The children from Ebenezer Orphanage Home also introduced themselves and shared their goals in life. The visit made the children very curious and brought about a realization of how blessed each student is.

Class I and II – The students of classes I and II visited the Nagaland Outreach Children’s Orphanage Home located at Seithiekima on the 19th of Jan, 2018. There were 16 children within the age group of 5 – 17 years. The students conducted a special programme for them which included a speech, special songs and a musical piece. After the programme, they played with the orphans and shared their packed food with them. The students experienced the joy of giving and sharing and the effect it had on the people they visited.

Class V – Also on the 8th Sept, 2017, students of class V visited Missionaries of Charity situated at Duncan Basti. They interacted with the other children as well as the elderly people. Everyone present there was overwhelmed with the contribution made by the students. It was a splendid sight to see how the students mingled and shared their food with them. The elderly people were very touched and appreciated the students’ gesture.

It was a successful visit as the students learned priceless lessons of kindness, compassion, charity and humanity.
